This is my stunning little Figaro which Ive owned since June 2006. This is my second Figaro, I owned a really nice, but higher mileage car previoulsy for a couple of years, which I sold after I tracked down this car (you'll see the other car in some of the photos).
I purchased this Figaro in early 2006 after asking the Figaro Specialist Barrie Feltham to search out the best Figaro available with under 29,000 miles.
The car was selected simply because it was the best Figaro I could possibly buy. It was chosen for its superb condition, originality and it came with japanese Service History, and very low mileage of 28,900 miles which was fully verified.
You'll also see photos of Oh-Oh sitting in japan waiting to be shipped to the UK, showing the wonderful condition even before it came here. On arrival Barrie Feltham subjected the car to his usual high standards of inspection and safety upgrades this included all new shock absorbers, servicing, rocker shaft bolts retensioned, timing belt, tensioner, water pump etc.
Further to the standard preparation I then asked for the car to have brand new suspension bump stops fitted, fully waxoyl body cavity treatment, new quality stereo speakers fitted, a Thatcham Approved alarm along with Central Locking and Remote Control locking fitted.
At that time it also had new brake discs and new brake pads fitted.
Just to make sure Oh-Oh stays in the condition it has oil changes every 4 months, as well as full servicing annually, it also has two further waxoyl treatments every year.
Anyone who knows about Figaros will know that they were the first production car ever fitted with a CD Player as standard. You will then also know that 95% of these have stopped working, and the only option is to have the internals of the unit renewed at the Clarion factory (who originally made the unit). I had this upgrade carried out to the latest Clarion 360 spec (Looks exactly the same as original but with the latest technology internals, inc I-pod compatibility, infra red remote control, RDS etc.), this makes a huge difference haviung a fully working, and reliable system. I then added an factory original cup holder.
I have also just put 4 brand new tyres on the car and it flew through MOT in the middle of August. The car was still on its original factory tyres, an they were getting near the legal limit. The Fig is also on a 'FIG' number plate. The spare wheel has never been used.
I have also fitted a number of 'Chrome' accessories purchased from Gareth Jones (GJNORTHALL Figaro Specialist). This includes 9mm Chrome Door Edge Trims, Chrome Door Mirror Trims, Ultimate Figaro Key Ring, Stainless Steel Wipers, Stainless Steel Twin Exhaust Trims, and Stailness Steel 'Figaro' logo sill plates, and custom 'Figaro Logo' number plates. I also purchased a set of original Nissan Factory 'Eye Lids' from Ross at Autosupply a year ago, which I just fitted last Saturday ready for the September Figgy Rally on Sunday (21st Sept 08)
The car also has its original boot tray, valet kit bag (see the photos), floor mats (although I put more floor mats over these agin to protect them!), Original Hand Books, Roof Operation card, Original Tool Kit, Original Tonneau Cover.
I always keep Oh-Oh garaged in a dehumidified and heated garage, polished, cleaned and kept in the best possible condition. When I park the car out in the sun I have a specially made reflector to cover the dash top, and a cover for the top of the rear seat to stop any sun damage.
I treat the leather interior every couple of months with Gliptone Leather cream, just to keep eberything tip-top.
Some photos showing the reg number J61 UND were taken in August 2007, which was the original registration number when it arrived in the UK. I then waited for FIG (County Fermanagh) plates to be issues by the DVLNI and changed it to that simple becasue of 'FIG' = Figaro. All other photos showing Reg Ni FIG 4394 were taken September 2008.
IMPORTANT FIGARO BUYER INFORMATION:
Thinking of Buying A Figaro???
They are a fantastic car, and you won't regret buying one, if you buy with your head rather than your heart.
Beware of cars which have been resprayed, with reconollised (i.e. repainted) leather seats etc. These cars are usually poor quality, well worn, and higher mileage Figaros with very limited or no service history, and which have been restored to look good, to get them sold for as much money as possible, even worse they can be accident damaged cars.
A lot of these cars have missing or broken interior parts and trim, or the CD Players or Air Conditioning aren't working. The replacement cost for many of these items outweighs the cost of buying a good car to start with.
Condition, mileage, history, preparation and maintenance are all key to trouble free long term Figaro ownership. Ask any of the proper Figaro specialist, and they will strongly advise against any car which doesn't come with its history and maintenance file complete, and only to buy cars which have had all the required safety upgrades.
When all Figaros arrive in the UK, they need certain upgrades to meet UK safety laws, as well as to ensure the reliability of the car and engine. This includes retensioning the Cam Shaft Bolts using a special kit, replacement timing belt and tensioner (failure to do any of these can result in engine damage), replacement water pump, shock absorbers, suspension bump stops, UK spec Fog lamps, replacements soft tops etc.
There are very few proper Figaro specialists. Three I know of, Gareth Jones, Barrie Feltham, and Autosupply UK. Many other dealers sell Figaros, but don't know how to prepare the cars properly to avoid future issues, and therefore the buyers of these cars are frequently disappointed with their car.
